Morning Mantra of Joy

Do you have a word or a phrase that you sometimes repeat to yourself to reassure, uplift or calm your mind throughout your day? If so, you have been using a Mantra. In traditional Hindu practices a mantra is considered a sacred utterance, a sound, word or group of words in Sanskrit believed by practitioners to have psychological and spiritual powers. Mantras now exist in various religions and can take on the form of song, hymns, chants or a simple word. They are a way of coming back to something deeper inside of ourselves through sound, repetition and breath.

One morning this week I woke up with a Mantra that I’d like to share with you. It was a couple of sentences which I kept hearing in my mind as I lit my morning candle and sat in front of it.

I find that some days it is quite powerful to use a mantra; a word, a sentence or two that I repeat in my mind and heart that then creates energetic change. At the simplest form, it is uplifting and soothing. But it is also much more and I believe can allow us to move in the directions we desire and open doors we didn’t even know existed . It does not need to be complicated and often the simpler the better in my opinion. If you have never practiced using a Mantra, I encourage you to give it a try and see how you feel after a few days. I share the words below that came to me one morning…
.
Morning mantra ~ “I awake to this new day with joy and gratitude. I open my heart to the possibilities that may unfold, especially the unexpected ones. I am ready and excited to live another day!”

I felt the power of being grateful for another day as I repeated those words. It’s easy to take for granted waking up and immediately moving into the same pattern…but what if today you took a few moments to speak a sentence or two about this opportunity to awake again? You can use the above mantra if you are struggling to find your own words and just allow yourself at least 5 minutes to process the feelings, thoughts, emotions that may arise. I hope these words are helpful and that your heart feels the beauty of this new day to breathe and move and love…a gift!
